Dan is a native of Omaha, Nebraska, who now resides in Gilbert, Arizona. Dan was introduced to square dancing at the age of 10. Eleven months later he was trying his hand at calling. From that moment on, Dan has pursued calling as his one and only profession. By the age of 16, he was Club Caller for three Omaha Square Dance Clubs. In 1976, he decided to pursue calling as a full-time profession. Dan has been the featured caller at many weekends, festivals, and conventions across the United States. He books dances and travels throughout the United States and Canada. Dan has called in Switzerland, Sweden, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, and Japan.
Dan is an Accredited Member of Callerlab and has served on the Mainstream and Plus Committees. Dan served on the Plus Committee as co-writer for the Plus Level definitions. He has attended 28 National Conventions, has served on many Panels, and has instructed various workshops.
Dan has been a recording artist since 1978. He has recordings on Blue Ribbon Records, Chinook Records, Eureka Records, Riverboat Records, and Hi-Hat Records. He has recorded several top ten hits including The Big One, Silver Wings, Cowboy Love, One of Those Wonderful Songs and Hey Honey. His current release Bend Me Shape Me on Riverboat Records is sure to be another hit!!
In 1989, Dan was hired as a resident caller in Mesa, Arizona. He has developed one of the most successful programs in the Valley, including all levels from beginners through A2. He has conducted a winter program in Mesa since 1989 that features 13 sessions a week consisting of those levels. Dan calls in the following R.V. resorts: Valle Del Oro, Golden Sun, Hacienda de Valencia, The Highlands at Brentwood, Monte Vista, and ViewPoint. These are some of Mesa's finest R.V. resorts with beautiful wood floors. When he isn't on the road, his summer program consists of sessions 5 nights a week.
Dan has grown up with Square Dancing and he knows of no other activity that offers the fun, exercise and social rewards that Square Dancing can give.
